Guide · Revu 20 end of life
Bluebeam Revu 20 end of life: what it means for Mac users
Bluebeam is retiring Revu 20, the last version sold as a perpetual licence. If you run it on a Mac through Parallels, two dates matter: 31 July 2026, which has passed, and 31 December 2026.
A perpetual Revu 20 licence keeps working after 31 December 2026, but it loses Studio, gets no support or fixes, and can no longer be moved to another computer. On a Mac, that last point bites: a new Mac or a rebuilt Windows virtual machine may leave you without a working licence. Your options are a Revu 21 subscription, staying on Revu 20 offline for as long as it lasts, or a native Mac app.
The dates
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| 30 September 2023 | Bluebeam stops selling Revu 20 licences. |
| 31 July 2026 | End of support. No technical support, and no self-service licence management, so no seat releases or moves to a new computer. |
| 31 December 2026 | End of life. Revu 20 no longer connects to Bluebeam cloud services: no Studio Sessions, Studio Projects or API integrations. |
This completes Bluebeam's move from perpetual licences to subscriptions. Every current plan includes Revu 21 and Bluebeam on the web and mobile.
What happens to your licence
| Licence type | After 31 December 2026 |
|---|---|
| Perpetual (number starts 1) | Keeps running locally. No Studio, no API integrations, no support, no transfers. |
| Open (96) and enterprise (98) | Deactivated. Those with expired maintenance, or running alongside a Revu 21 subscription, are already deactivated. |
| Academic | Deactivated. Bluebeam offers an academic subscription instead. |
| Not-for-resale | Deactivated. |

Why this matters more on a Mac
Revu 20 has never run natively on a Mac. Mac users who bought a perpetual licence run it inside a Windows virtual machine, usually Parallels. That adds two risks:
- New Mac, new machine. Moving Revu 20 to a different computer has not been supported since 31 July 2026. A new Mac, or a fresh Windows virtual machine, is likely to count as a different computer. Before you upgrade hardware or rebuild your virtual machine, check with Bluebeam.
- Studio stops. If you collaborate with Windows users in Studio Sessions, that ends on 31 December 2026 unless you move to Revu 21.
Your options
1. Subscribe to Revu 21
Best if you need Studio, the full desktop toolset or company-wide Bluebeam standards. On a Mac it still runs in a Windows virtual machine.
| Plan | Per user per year | Takeoff tools |
|---|---|---|
| Basics | US$260 | Length and area only |
| Core | US$330 | Adds perimeter, count, angle and volume |
| Complete | US$440 | Adds Dynamic Fill and Quantity Link to Excel |
| Max | US$590 (introductory) | Adds AI review features |

2. Keep Revu 20 offline
If you only use Revu 20 on your own, without Studio, it will keep running. Treat it as frozen: don't update Windows or Parallels without a backup of the virtual machine, and don't count on it surviving your next Mac. It is a stopgap, not a plan.
3. Move to a native Mac app
If your Revu work is mostly markup and takeoff on your own drawings, a native Mac app removes the virtual machine entirely. Check three things before switching:
- It measures to a calibrated scale, per sheet, with counts and areas.
- It opens Bluebeam markups and saves yours where Revu users will see them.
- It exports quantities in a form your estimating spreadsheet can use.
Project Blueprint does all three and is a one-off licence, which suits people who bought Revu 20 to avoid subscriptions in the first place. The alternatives comparison covers other options.
Before 31 December 2026
- Find your Revu 20 licence number in your purchase records, or ask Bluebeam or your reseller. The first digits tell you the licence type.
- Export anything you need from Studio Projects while Revu 20 can still reach them.
- Save your Tool Chest and profiles so you can rebuild them if you move.
- Back up your Windows virtual machine before any Mac upgrade.
- Price your three-year options side by side, including Parallels and Windows.
Frequently asked questions
Will Revu 20 stop working on 31 December 2026?
Not if you hold a perpetual licence (licence number starting with 1). Bluebeam says you can keep running it locally. It will lose access to Studio Sessions, Studio Projects and API integrations, and Bluebeam will no longer support or fix it.
Can I move my Revu 20 licence to a new computer?
Not any more. Since 31 July 2026, Bluebeam no longer supports licence transfers or seat releases for Revu 20. Plan carefully before replacing a Mac or rebuilding a Windows virtual machine that runs Revu 20.
What about open, enterprise and academic Revu 20 licences?
These are being deactivated. Bluebeam says open and enterprise licences with expired maintenance are deactivated, the rest are deactivated on or before 31 December 2026, and academic and not-for-resale licences are deactivated. Check your licence type with Bluebeam or your reseller.
How much does the Revu 21 subscription cost?
Bluebeam lists Basics at US$260, Core at US$330 and Complete at US$440 per user per year, with Max at an introductory US$590. Counts, perimeters and volumes need Core or higher.
Is it safe to keep using Revu 20 after end of life?
It will still run, but Bluebeam says continued use after end of life is at your own risk, including security issues, data loss and compatibility problems. For a tool you use on live projects, plan a move.
